    Experience

    Mrs. Fola Laoye is a graduate of Accounting from the University of Lagos with a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (1995) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (1997). She trained with Coopers & Lybrand, UK (now Price WaterHouse Coopers) from 1991 to 1995.

    Furthermore, Mrs. Laoye is a Director at Investment Funds for Health Africa.  She serves as the Chairperson of Hygeia Nigeria Limited and was the former Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Hygeia Nigeria Limited. She is also a Trustee of the Hygeia Foundation. She also worked with the Corporate Finance Unit of First Securities Discount House from 1995 to 1997.  She also teaches (part-time) Strategy at Lagos Business School.

    Mr. Strydom, was a Partner of Ernst & Young. Over the preceding 43 years, Mr. Strydom has gained vast experience in external auditing, special investigations and all disciplines of risk management. Having worked in the Banking environment, acting as Group Senior General Manager at Bankorp Holdings for six years, his experience covers virtually all areas of credit risk, quality review and governance. Mr. Strydom is a Member of the Professional Services Panel at Ernst and Young. Mr. Strydom has wealth of experience to the Board from an accounting and corporate governance perspective. Mr Strydom is a Member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the South African Institute of Internal Auditors, and Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors. He is an experienced Chartered Accountant with a Master of Commerce Degree.

    Experience

    Mr Ngwerume is from an investment background and rose to become the first black Group Chief Executive Officer of the Old Mutual Group in Zimbabwe, the country’s largest financial institution. Mr Ngwerume was with the Old Mutual Group for 30 years of his corporate life, both in Cape Town and Harare.  He belongs to that first generation of business leaders who have successfully run major corporations in post independent Zimbabwe. He is a product of the University of Zimbabwe (Then University of Rhodesia) having graduated in 1977. He is also an MBA graduate of the University of Cape Town` Business School. He attended the Global Business Program run by the University of London and attended numerous leadership programs run by UCT and various other organizations.

    Experience

    Ken is Chairman of a Management Consulting and Business Advisory firm -Execution Edge Ltd -that focuses on Value Engineering and Enterprise Transformation. In over 35 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, he was an Audit Partner, Tax Partner and Advisory (Consulting) Partner, and his experience spanned business valuations, due diligence, dispute resolution, statutory financial and process audit and assurance, financial and information systems risk management, strategy development and corporate performance management, tax compliance and tax planning. He specialises in Economic & Financial Strategy for government, and Strategic Management and Transformation and turnaround for private sector enterprises.

    In his role as Country Senior Partner of PwC Nigeria, he had the responsibility for anchoring and driving the strategic thinking and visioning that underpinned the growth of the firm. He was in this leadership position for 10 years. He also led the PwC West Africa Advisory business as well as being the Regional Senior Partner for the PwC West Africa Region. He led the West Africa business into the Africa-wide PwC merger in 2012, and grew the Nigerian business from c.200 people to over 800 staff during his tenure.

    He holds a B.Sc. (Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London University, which he attended as a Shell scholar. He is a practicing member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants (England and Wales), and Nigeria. He is also a practicing member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN).

    Experience

    Mr. Gawaxab is currently the Executive Chairman of EOS Capital, Namibia. He was previously the Managing Director of Old Mutual's African business, excluding Old Mutual South Africa, which include Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi and Swaziland.  He championed the company's expansion into the rest of Africa.

    Prior to his position as Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Namibia, he held the position of Chief Executive of Old Mutual Asset Managers Namibia.  He joined Old Mutual as Chief Executive of the asset management business in March 1998. 

    Johannes holds a B.A. and a Masters of Business Leadership from the University of South Africa, an MA from the Graduate School of Business at Kingston (London) as well as the AMP from Harvard University.

    Experience

    Mr. Ambah served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Nigeria. Prior to this position, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank Capital (the investment arm of the Ecobank group) which includes Investment Banking, Treasury, Asset Management & Research and was based in London and Paris.  He was the Managing Director and Regional Head of Ecobank Nigeria between 2006 and 2009. He was formerly an Executive Director in UBA Plc. from 2002 until 2005 and the Managing Director, Ecobank Liberia from 1999 to 2002. He was the General Manager of Ecobank Nigeria in 1998 and worked in the Treasury, Corporate Finance, Credit and Retail Banking departments. Between 1985 and 1991 he worked with International Merchant Bank and City Trust Merchant Bank in Nigeria.  Mr. Ambah holds a B.Sc. Economics from the University of Lagos and an MSc Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Nigeria.

    Mr Ayodele Adepoju is currently the Head, Financial and Regulatory Reporting, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI). He commenced his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers from the level of an Associate to a Manager with the UK office offices before moving to join the Ecobank Group.  He is a graduate of Accounting from the University of Lagos where he graduated with a Distinction.   He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

    Mr Voss is an expert in Actuarial Science with almost 35 years actuarial expertise.  He obtained a BSc. (Hons) (with distinction) in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Cape Town in 1981 and is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in the United Kingdom and also a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.  He is experienced in product development, valuation and financial reporting in Retail Affluent, Retail Mass, Employee Benefits, and Central Actuarial matters.  He commenced his career with Old Mutual in 1981, in various roles in product development.  Over the years he has held positions in Actuarial Group Schemes, Employee Benefits Actuary  and  prior to being appointed a Director, was the Chief Actuary of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (South Africa) Limited.

    Experience

    Segun Omosehin as Managing Director of Old Mutual Nigeria Life Assurance Co. (OMNiLAC). Segun holds a BSc. in Political Science, a Master’s in International Law & Diplomacy and Master’s in Economics from the University of Lagos. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and Said Business School, University of Oxford in the UK.

    Prior to his appointment he was Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc.

    Before joining the Mutual Benefits Assurance team in April 2010, Mr. Omosehin was the Managing Director/CEO of AIICO General Insurance Company Limited, the general insurance arm of AIICO Insurance Plc. He was also the MD/CEO of Admiral Insurance Company Limited between 2003 and 2007 before merging the company with Crusader Insurance Plc during the insurance consolidation exercise in 2007; a company where he started his insurance career in 1993.

    He was a member of the pioneer team that started and nurtured Custodian & Allied insurance Plc in 1995, where he worked for about nine years before his appointment as the MD/CEO of Admiral Insurance Limited in 2003. He Started his career with Crusader Insurance (Nigeria) Plc in 1993 (then a specialist life assurance company)

    Mr. Omosehin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science; a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD); and also an M.Sc in Economics from the University of Lagos. He is equally an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School (LBS) now Pan African University; as well as Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK.

    He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria; a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD); a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management; and the Nigerian Society of International Law.

    His hobbies include Networking, Swimming and Golfing. He is a member of Ikoyi Club 1938 –Golf Section, and Ikeja Golf Club. He is married to Modupe and blessed with three children.

    Experience

    Wasiu joined Old Mutual in November 2017. Before joining Old Mutual, he was The Head of Technical for Life Operations at Heirs Insurance Limited. He has held various positions in the Nigerian Insurance Industry; these include Head of Technical for UNIC Insurance Plc, Head of Operations in FBN Insurance Limited, Metropolitan Momentum, and Head of Life of Linkage Assurance Plc. He served in various capacities in Great Nigeria Insurance Plc where he started his Insurance Career. He is a Life Examiner with West Africa Insurance Institute (Gambia) and a seasoned Facilitator with The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.

    Mr Amao, an indigene of Oyo State, was born and raised in Lagos. He has a first degree in Actuarial Science from The University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from the Lagos State University, both in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also an Associate Member of The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.

    Mr. Donald Samuel Ogbu is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual West Africa, a position he assumed in November 2018, tasked with leading a turnaround Old Mutual’s businesses in West Africa and strengthening the Group’s presence in the region. Before taking up his current role, Samuel, as he prefers to be called, was the Group Executive, West Africa of Liberty Holdings, a position he moved into following his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Properties. Prior to joining the Liberty Group, Samuel was the General Manager of Old Mutual’s Large Corporate Business at Old Mutual South Africa. Before that, he held senior executive directorships at Sage Life, South Africa and Africa Media Group.

    Samuel is armed with more than thirty (30) years of professional experience with the last fifteen (15) years spent in various general management roles within the insurance industry in South Africa and Nigeria.  He has extensive experience in a variety of other sectors in sub-Saharan African countries. Samuel has been involved in the revitalizing a number of corporate brands, notably in the financial and property industries.

    Samuel is a past President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA), the foremost real estate industry organization in Africa; for several years, Samuel played a pivotal role in promoting investor interest in the African Commercial Real Estate sector.  He has spoken at numerous international conferences across Africa, Europe, and the United States.

    Samuel has a bachelor’s degree from South Bank University. He is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) having trained with Price Waterhouse in London. He holds an MBA from Wits Business School, Johannesburg. He is a senior member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and a member of the Institute of Directors. He has held directorships of several listed and unlisted companies in the United Kingdom, South Africa and other parts of Africa.

    Samuel is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, the Urban Land Institute and a former director of the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce. He is a keen golfer and runner; he has completed a number of marathons around the world including Lagos, New York, Tokyo, Paris London, Chicago, Berlin and Boston.
