Samuel Ogbu Chief Executive Officer Old Mutual West Africa
Mr. Donald Samuel Ogbu is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual West Africa, a position he assumed in November 2018. In this position he oversees Old Mutual’s West African Businesses in both Nigeria and Ghana. Before taking up his current role, Samuel, was the Group Executive, West Africa of Liberty Holdings, a position he moved into following his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Properties. Prior to joining the Liberty Group, Samuel was the General Manager of Old Mutual’s Large Corporate Business at Old Mutual South Africa. Before that, he held senior executive directorships at Sage Life, South Africa and Africa Media Group.
Samuel has over thirty (30) years of professional experience with the last fifteen (15) years spent in various general management roles within the insurance industry in South Africa and Nigeria. He has extensive experience in a variety of other sectors in sub-Saharan African countries.
Samuel is a past President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA), the foremost real estate industry organization in Africa; for several years, Samuel played a pivotal role in promoting investor interest in the African Commercial Real Estate sector.
Samuel has a bachelor’s degree from South Bank University. He is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) having trained with Price Waterhouse in London. He holds an MBA from Wits Business School, Johannesburg. He is a senior member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and a member of the Institute of Directors. He has held directorships of several listed and unlisted companies in the United Kingdom, South Africa and other parts of Africa.

Olusegun Omosehin Managing Director, Life Assurance
Mr. ‘Segun Omosehin is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc. He is a multi-disciplinary professional with extensive strategic planning, transformation, organizational restructuring and insurance management experience.
Before joining the Mutual Benefits Assurance team in April 2010, Mr. Omosehin was the Managing Director/CEO of AIICO General Insurance Company Limited, the general insurance arm of AIICO Insurance Plc. He was also the MD/CEO of Admiral Insurance Company Limited between 2003 and 2007 before merging the company with Crusader Insurance Plc during the insurance consolidation exercise in 2007; a company where he started his insurance career in 1993.
He was a member of the pioneer team that started and nurtured Custodian & Allied insurance Plc in 1995, where he worked for about nine years before his appointment as the MD/CEO of Admiral Insurance Limited in 2003. He Started his career with Crusader Insurance (Nigeria) Plc in 1993 (then a specialist life assurance company)
Mr. Omosehin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science; a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD); and also an M.Sc in Economics from the University of Lagos. He is equally an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School (LBS) now Pan African University; as well as Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria; a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD); a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management; and the Nigerian Society of International Law.
His hobbies include Networking, Swimming and Golfing. He is a member of Ikoyi Club 1938 –Golf Section, and Ikeja Golf Club. He is married to Modupe and blessed with three children.

Olalekan A Oyinlade Managing Director, General Insurance
Lekan is a graduate of University of Lagos. He started his professional career with Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc where he acquired considerable experience in General Business Underwriting and Reinsurance Operations. He joined AXA Mansard Insurance Plc in February 2004 and left in 2017 as Chief Underwriting Officer with additional responsibility for the company’s distribution activities in the Public & Infrastructure Sectors and management of the Life and Savings Portfolio.
His last role was Executive Director, Operations of Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc where he was responsible for overall Business Development and Technical Operations of the company. With over 22 years cognate experience in various insurance roles including Chief Underwriter, Reinsurance Manager, etc. Olalekan specializes in direct and treaty Reinsurance, Underwriting, Commercial claims handling, extensive Client and Brokers relationship management.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN) and Council of Registered Insurance Brokers of Nigeria (ACIB) as well as member of Chartered Insurance Institute of London (CII). He has attended several technical courses including Engineering & Special Risk courses organized by Africa Re, Oil & Energy Seminar organized by Munich Re and Energy Underwriting Seminar by HSBC, London.
He has also attended development programs at leading institutions including the Finance for Non-Finance Executives, IMD Switzerland and the Senior Management Program, Lagos Business School. He is a prolific lecturer in the area of risk management with special bias for Reinsurance and Alternative Risk Transfer Mechanisms.

Wasiu Amao Executive Director Technical Life Assurance
Wasiu joined Old Mutual in November 2017. Before joining Old Mutual, he was The Head of Technical for Life Operations at Heirs Insurance Limited. He has held various positions in the Nigerian Insurance Industry; these include Head of Technical for UNIC Insurance Plc, Head of Operations in FBN Insurance Limited, Metropolitan Momentum, and Head of Life of Linkage Assurance Plc. He served in various capacities in Great Nigeria Insurance Plc where he started his Insurance Career. He is a Life Examiner with West Africa Insurance Institute (Gambia) and a seasoned Facilitator with The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.
Mr Amao, an indigene of Oyo State, was born and raised in Lagos. He has a first degree in Actuarial Science from The University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from the Lagos State University, both in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also an Associate Member of The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.

Japhet Duru Executive Director Technical General Insurance
Japhet is the Executive Director, Technical of Old Mutual General Insurance Company Nigeria. Dr. Duru oversees the operations department of the organization with a view to bolster its underwriting operations and maintain its prompt claims settlement. He has over 25 years’ experience in General insurance Business.
Dr. Duru holds a Ph.D. in Insurance & Risk Management from Charisma University and has over 25 years’ experience in Insurance Business. He started his career at Valid Assurance Company Limited. Prior to joining Old Mutual General Insurance, he served as the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer at HEIRS Insurance Brokers Limited. Dr. Duru has also held various senior management positions such as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Heirs Insurance Ltd, Head of Technical Operations at Stanbic IBTC Insurance Brokers Limited, Group Head, Technical and Head of Underwriting at International Energy Insurance Plc and Head of Underwriting at KBL Insurance Ltd.
Japhet Duru also holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Lagos State University, Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Insurance & Risk Management from Imo State University and Saint Monica University respectively. Japhet Duru is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (FIIN) and Associate of other Professional bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Administration, Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria.

Afolabi Lawal Chief Financial Officer
With over 20 years’ experience in varying capacities from Consulting to Telecommunications and Insurance. Afolabi began his career with KPMG Nigeria (now Akintola Williams Deloitte), he then proceeded to Airtel Networks Limited (then Econet Wireless Nigeria)In 2011, Afolabi joined Monarch Communications Limited (a WiMAX telecom operator) as the Chief Finance Officer. Thereafter, he moved into the insurance industry through AIICO Insurance Plc, Financial Controller. In that position, Afolabi was responsible for all aspects of financial planning and performance reporting until May 2017 when he joined Old Mutual as CFO of the Nigerian entity.
Also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria (CIS), a Level 3 Candidate on the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, and also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (Cert CII). Alero Ladipo Marketing & Customer Experience Executive
Tolu Alero Ladipo is a Marketing and Corporate Communications Expert who holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB) Degree from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Trade from the University of Essex, Colchester, both from the United Kingdom. She is also called to the Nigerian Bar.
With a background in Legal, Alero has built her career in Marketing and Communication with over 17 years of experience in Strategy Development, Customer & Product Portfolio Management, Public & Media Relations, Integrated Marketing to mention but a few, Alero has worked in some of Nigeria’s leading financial services providers where she had a fulfilling career which saw her soar to become Head of Marketing at the United Bank for Africa (UBA), Smile Communications and Union Bank.
She joined Old Mutual in August 2018 as the Executive Head, Marketing and Customer Experience.
Head, Information Technology
Mary Aworetan Head, Information Technology
Mary joined the Group in July 2018 as Head of Information Technology. Before joining Old Mutual Nigeria, she was the Head of IT Strategy & Projects at Leadway Assurance Company Limited; She also served as the acting Head of IT briefly in the same period. Mary’s career spans 14 years getting her start at Leadway Assurance as an Executive Officer (Underwriting) for 3 years before she moved back into IT as a systems analyst and project manager. Mary is a full member of the British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT. Mary has undergone several local and international trainings and attended several conferences on IT and management. In addition to a HND in Computer Science, Mary has certifications such as ITIL, PRINCE2 and COBIT5; she also holds a Certificate in Advanced Project Management from Regenesys Business School, South Africa. Mary is also a music lover and art & design enthusiast.

Derin Adefulu Head Corporate Governance & Company Secretary
Derin is the Group Company Secretary, Chief Compliance Officer and also Heads the Legal team. She is an experienced legal professional with expertise in Corporate Governance and her career spans varied in-house legal and compliance experience in Digital Marketing, Banking and currently in the Insurance sector.
In her various roles, she is responsible for the corporate governance framework in Old Mutual and provides effective oversight and implementation of the right compliance culture and drives adherence with and awareness of all regulatory requirements. She is also responsible for the company secretariat, legal and property management.
She has over 17 years’ experience gained in various roles including as a Solicitor in Union Bank of Nigeria Plc; Group Head Legal (including compliance) at Multibanc Savings & Loans Ltd; Head Legal and Corporate Affairs at Naijasounds limited; Associate at the leading law firm of Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie; and a brief stint as a Service Consultant at Halifax Bank of Scotland, UK.
Derin graduated in 1992 from Queens College Lagos, where she obtained her secondary education; she then obtained an LL.B (Hons) degree in 1999 from Cardiff University of Wales, United Kingdom. She subsequently qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002 (BL.).
Her interests include women’s advocacy, healthful awareness and legal reform.

Kayode Odetola Head, Retail Business
Kayode’s career spans over 15 years’ in Retail Distribution in Financial Services. Between 2004 and 2012, he was responsible for Customer Service and Mutual Funds’ Operations at the ARM Group. In 2013, he was appointed Head of the Agency business at ARM Life Plc, the Insurance subsidiary of the ARM Group. He joined Old Mutual Nigeria in 2016 and currently oversees the Retail Distribution business for Nigeria. He is a graduate of Urban & Regional Planning from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and an MBA from the National Open University of Nigeria. He completed the Management Advancement Program (MAP) from Witts Business School, Johannesburg.
